Feedlot Shelters

The conditions in which cattle are housed influence their comfort and welfare. The main purpose of a Feedlot is to provide a comfortable, natural light environment allowing cows to convert feed efficiently, be content and loaf whilst converting feed.
An Feedlot Shelter improves production efficiency by reducing the maintenance energy requirement of the cattle. This is the energy required to maintain functions critical for life. This is important as 30–40% of the feed consumed daily by cattle is directed to maintenance (Caton et al., 2000).
A well-managed Ecoshelter will help control the environmental factors that create adverse pen conditions such as ,Heat, Cold & Mud

All these factors lead to conditions that increase maintenance requirement by 10–15% due to greater physical exertion.
